Winter Army Combat Shirt

22 07 2011

I’ve received yesterday a rare piece not often seen. A Winter Army Combat Shirt. Almost the same form as the standard ACS (1st & 2nd gen), but it’s more softer thank to the fleece. I’ ve read on MilitaryPhotos.net that this shirt hasn’t been adopted by the us army after his test. It’s no more available on MASSIF, you could read all the feedback from a GI on the previous link.

ACS : Army Combat Shirt (UCP & MultiCam)

14 07 2011

When IOTV has been done to soldiers,  some feedbacks were the heat between the body (t-shirt + acu vest) and the body armor in the hot climate zone. A new product has been developed by MASSIF (mountain gear), a kind of t-shirt with long sleeve which combine new innovation.  As a mix with cotton and spandex on torso which allow a good breath, and dry faster than a cotton vest and build with a fire resistance fiber (more info on massif website). The Army Combat Shirt preserve the pocket on sleeve like the vest but used zip instead of velcro (no more pocket on torso. Massif has had directly on the shirt a kind of elbow foam pad.

the first gen of ACS was product with the US ARMY logo (army strong ) on the front, but with the success of this product non-us army crew worn it, like USAF (before the ABU uniform) so a 2nd gen has been product without the logo. The new combat shirt in MultiCam Partern used the 2nd gen model.

New Year & New gears (So Happy New Gears)

30 01 2011

Happy new year everybody (I know it’s the end of the month). With the new year comes new resolution, and in our case, new gears. US Army is going to change UCP battle dress by some MULTICAM uniform for the afghan theater. Before talk about the Multicam, I would like to introduce a special element which was test by US forces in ASTAN. 500 pieces of this uniform has been produced and tested by the 4th Infantry Division and the 82nd Airborne Division current the 2009 year. This uniform is a variant of the UCP pattern with some brown touch. This is the UCP DELTA or ACU-D

I’ve found somes pieces on Ebay, I’m waiting the shirt. But for my pants is built from the UCP 2nd gen materials, the DEFENDER with aramide fiber.

On the left pocket, the ACU-D (and Multicam) wear a strange square which look like to an IR tabs, also seen on the shirt arm (soon).

Rare pieces and prices are sometimes really expensive.

Now, a lot of soldiers wear the new uniform (DEFENDER) with a new pattern, used by SFG, PJ, DEVGRU, special but very efficient in a good context. The MULTICAM take a lot of colors (no UCP pattern) which have a good game on the afghan countryside. A friend of mine has bough a complete set up. As the ACU-D, you could seen on the leg pocket and the left arm a king of web square. On the shoulder pocket the IR sqare is now fix on the tab.

the ACU Battle Dress

11 09 2010

Well, one of the most important things, to have a good modern us army load out ! the battle dress. Exit the old BDU (battle dress uniform) in woodland and DCU (Desert Combat Uniform). New design and new partern . Full color UCP, for the vest, forget the large collar, now it’s a mao’s collar type with VELCRO ®.

VELCRO ® is ubiquitous on th new uniform, each pocket is closed with VELCRO ®, 2 on torso, 1 by sleeve like SF RAID shirts, and no buttons, a long zip on the vest.  Nametape, army tape, rack are fixed with VELCRO ®. On each sleeve side pocket, you’ve got and IR TAG hide by a flap.

In the sleeve elbows (and pants knees) you can insert foam pad to a better confort, elbows and knees pad aren’t necessary with this kind of things.

Pants is like the BDU, pistol and cargo pocket but 2 news pockets had been added, on each shins you can carry an m4 magazine. (to the right cargo pocket, to the left m4 mag shin pocket)

Under the vest, you can were different kind of underwear like underarmour clothes, or official ECWCS Gen III level 1 or 2 undershirt & drawers (soon) or the DSCP t-shirt, in tan color made from polyester breath able vapor wick material, much better than cotton.
